Biography
Dr. Theresa Camozzi, BSc, ND grew up in Revelstoke, BC. From an early age she was exposed to the wonder and beauty of the natural world- identifying wildflowers along the greenbelt, picking huckleberries, camping in the Kootenays and working in the family flower store (Flower Affairs) were favourite pastimes. She was also familiar with wonder of healing, both through her mother (a registered nurse) and her time as a volunteer at the Queen Victoria Hospital. It’s not a surprise that both nature and healing are incorporated in her career choice as a Naturopathic Doctor.
In 1999, Theresa began her education at the University of Calgary with a focus on Molecular Biology. Through her studies she learned how the body worked on a cellular level.
Theresa later worked in a molecular genetics lab in the Netherlands. Though it wasn't the focus of her experiments, it became clear to her that even when every physical aspect of an organism is known, its health still cannot be predicted. In other words, she learned that health and disease are not aspects of the physical world alone, even the tiny bacteria she worked with had a life force and vitality.
After graduation, Theresa began work in research, but quickly developed carpal tunnel syndrome.
After exhausting conventional therapies including braces and painkillers, she was left with only the options of surgery or permanent disability. At this point, Theresa came across a Naturopathic Doctor who cured her of her pain using the Bowen technique.
The result was so dramatic that Theresa decided to become a Naturopathic Doctor and Bowen therapist. She was certified by the Bowen
College as a Certified Bowen Health Therapist (CBHT) in 2008 and graduated from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in 2010.
Theresa’s varied work has given her the opportunity to approach Naturopathic Medicine from many perspectives. She’s worked with children with Autism at the Society for Treatment of Autism in Calgary as a residential therapist, where she learned so much about children and communication. She has also worked closely with an extraordinary woman with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome as a personal care assistant where she learned about
the challenges of living with a silent disease and the power of hope. She was a teaching assistant at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in the subject of physiology and loves the aspect of Naturopathic Medicine that encourages practitioners to teach patients about their bodies and the choices they make for health. Her clinical internship included rotations at both the Robert Schad Naturopathic Clinic where she practiced Family Medicine, and the Sherbourne Health Center for People Living with HIV and AIDS. In addition she practiced Bowen technique (a type of bodywork) in Toronto.
Dr. Camozzi combines clinical nutrition, herbal medicine, homeopathy, acupuncture, Bowen technique, hydrotherapy and lifestyle counselling in her practice in order to address her patients’ concerns from the root and promote good health. Dr. Camozzi enjoys working with other healthcare professionals and believes that optimal patient care can be best attained with an integrated approach.
In her spare time, Theresa enjoys practicing yoga, painting, and travelling. Theresa is so grateful for the opportunity to move home to Revelstoke BC. This setting gives her the opportunity to live with the plants she uses for healing and to reground herself in natural beauty.
